First reported cases of hepatitis A virus and human immunodeficiency virus coinfection in Vojvodina, Serbia: A case report

Introduction. Hepatitis A virus is the most common cause of acute viral hepatitis, and in people over 25 years age disease may have different degrees severity. Even though hepatitis infection was long believed to be transmitted strictly by fecal-oral route, now this classified among sexually diseases. Homosexual population, especially those positive for human immunodeficiency virus, at greatest risk infection. Case 1. twenty-six-year-old male homosexual admitted with clinical laboratory findings hepatitis. The patient tested enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay immunoglobulin M antibodies antibodies, later on confirmed polymerase chain reaction test. After discharge, antiretroviral therapy initiated. 2. twenty-seven-year-old transferred our clinic from Regional Hospital, where he hospitalized due infection, after a serological test anti-human antibodies. Human test, upon Conclusion. In order take effective preventive measures, it very important identify individuals groups high coinfection virus. Timely vaccination against living recommended therefore necessary design strategies education risk.
